Coonoor is situated 19 km away from its sister hilltop Ooty. This hilly Indian countryside was set up to utilise the tea plantations around Nilgiri Hills that produces an exquisite tea. Highfield tea factory is its closest neighbour at a distance of 1.5km from the dam. The place is, however, safe to visit.
