There are two routes to Masinagudi from Ooty, one is through Gudalur, and the other is the one we took. It is a steep scary road with the most dangerous hairpin bends, I have ever seen. We travelled by my own car. The route is a deadly one for persons who do not know good driving. The whole of the route has to be covered with the engine running in first or second gear only. The use of breaks are a strict NO NO. Extensive use of break will damage the break disc. For the safety of the persons, in the middle of the route, there is a policeman with a mechanic, who check your vehicle, and gives you tips on how to proceed further. A lot of tea stalls are available on the way. My advice to all is not to use this route if you are new to driving.
