CAIRNHILL ECO TOURISM SITE :
Cairnhill is located 5 kms away from Udhagamandalam, along the road
leading towards Nanjanad, Avalanche,Munjoor, etc., This site lies
undisturbed from sound and pollution about 300mts away from the main
road.
The Reserved Forests with an extent of 167.775 Ha. has one
of the oldest Cyprus Plantation in the Nilgiris ( Planted in 1868 ).
Wildlife seen and heard here are Gaur, Sambar Deer, Leopard, Nilgiri
Langur, Barking Deer, Porcupine. This site is also good for watching
some interesting Birds.
Cairnhill has been a very old renowned place of beauty to
visit and enjoy the nature. The natural landscape of this place with a
trek trail around a small hillock in the center has attracted many
people to have a peaceful and calm spending time, out there. This is one
of the few surviving original walks as enjoyed by the Britishers.
This peaceful site is very nearby to Udhagamandalam, away from the hustle and bustle of the outside City life., where the other Tourism places like Botanical Garden, Boat House, Dodabetta, etc., are there with large number of noisy crowd.
